Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Manny Pacquiao is taking nothing for granted in his hotly-anticipated rematch against Timothy Bradley in Las Vegas on 12 April, claiming that he has "to prove he can still fight".
The Filipino suffered a shock defeat by the unbeaten American in their first meeting back in June 2012, losing his WBO welterweight title by split decision, but the 35-year-old says he is not motivated by revenge, he just wants to prove his worth.
"I don't think of vengeance or revenge," he said. "I have to prove that I can still fight."
Pacquiao was victorious in his last bout against Brandon Rios in November, his first win after back-to-back defeats.
In Pacquiao's corner will be his usual trainer Freddie Roach, who says that they would love a knock-out, but they won't be taking the risk of going out all guns blazing to look for one, as Pacquiao found to his cost in his sixth-round stoppage defeat by nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez in December.
"We'd love a K.O but we can't get looking for one," Roach cautiously revealed. "If it happens, if happens...we'll take it round by round."
