From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Five-time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan suffered an early exit from the International Championship in Chengdu after Liang Wenbo recovered from three frames down to reach the last 16.

O'Sullivan, who had not played in a major tournament since winning the World Championship at the Crucible in May, made a successful return to ranking event action by beating Anthony McGill in the first round in China on Monday.

But though O'Sullivan built a 4-1 lead against Liang, he could not progress to a knockout meeting with Mark Davis – a 6-3 winner over Stuart Carrington – as his 26-year-old opponent won five straight frames to clinch a 6-4 win.
