From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Robertson lost to Peter Ebdon in the first round of the Shanghai Masters earlier this month but is playing himself back into form at the SECC. He followed up his first-round win over Scotland's Graeme Dott – the man he beat in the Crucible final in May – with a 3-1 victory over Morris.
The Australian took the opening frame thanks to a break of 72, before Morris won a scrappy second. Robertson eased himself back in front with a run of 62 in the third frame, before coming from behind in the fourth to book his place in the random draw for the next round.
There was more Irish disappointment, as Ken Doherty, the 1997 world champion, bowed out 3-1 to Barry Hawkins, who beat Mark Selby in the previous round.
Former Scottish amateur champion James McBain was outclassed by England's Ricky Walden, losing 3-0 despite making a fight of an absorbing 43-minute third frame. Walden had made a break of 102 to win the second frame.
