From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Two-time Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir is set to publish a book in 2011, announced North American publisher Gallery Books on April 19. The as-yet-untitled book will feature a collection of anecdotes and essays written by the famously outspoken athlete and reality TV star.

"His book will be all things Johnny - vivacious, stylish, honest and one-of-a-kind," said Jennifer Bergstrom, vice president and editor-in-chief of Gallery Books. Also from the announcement: "His as of yet untitled book will be a collection of wildly entertaining anecdotes and essays about everything from pop culture to skating to fashion to Johnny himself."

Johnny Weir came in sixth place during the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, gaining worldwide attention for his expressive style and demeanor. He is now featured in his own eight-part reality TV show, Be Good Johnny Weir, which airs on the Sundance Channel. Weir joins a host of Olympic athletes who have published or will publish books, among them track superstar Usain Bolt, who is set to publish an autobiography in 2012.

Weir's book is due out in North America in June 2011; no details have yet been announced about international publication deals or dates. In the meantime, Twitter users can follow Weir's daily adventures at http://twitter.com/johnnygweir.
