Seattle Seahawks Cornerback, Richard Sherman, delivered an emotional post-game rant aimed at his opposite number; just moments after his team beat the San Francisco 49ers 23-17. In a speech trashing 49ers wide receiver, Michael Crabtree, Sherman wanted to point out just who he thought was the better player on the day.

“I'm the best corner in the game. When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that is the result you are going to get. Don't you ever talk about me,” Sherman shouted. When asked who was talking about him, the Seahawks player replied, “Crabtree. Don't you open your mouth about the best, or I'm going to shut it for you really quick.”

Sherman provided the final play that handed the Seahawks victory on Sunday when he tipped a ball in the end zone that was intended for Crabtree. The ball was intercepted by linebacker Malcolm Smith and all but ended the 49ers chances of reaching the Super Bowl. Following the play, Sherman was penalized for making a two handed choking gesture in Crabtree’s direction

Later on in a post-game press interview, Sherman explained his comments. “I don't like people saying negative things about me, I don't like people running their mouth, so I told him: 'Good game and good try, but I'm the best corner in the league.’“

On Twitter, Crabtree responded to Sherman’s behaviour, posting 'Film don't lie... @nflnetwork @espn pull up the tape of that game and show me where this guy is the best? #fake #fake #fake'. Sherman later posted ‘A lion doesn’t concern himself with the opinions of a sheep’.

Sherman is no stranger to controversy in the NFL. In 2012, the Seahawks corner posted a picture of himself on twitter which appeared to show him in a post-game rant with Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady. He super imposed the caption ‘U mad Bro?’ onto the picture. He has been in several other twitter feuds with fellow players that include Darelle Revis and Joe Haden. In an interview with ESPN’s Skip Bayliss in 2012, Sherman spent 4 minutes arguing with Bayliss, even saying at one point ”In my 24 years of life, I'm better at life than you… I'm intelligent enough and capable enough to understand that you are ignorant, pompous, egotistical, cretin. I'm going to crush you on here because I'm tired of hearing about it.“

The Seattle Seahawks will travel to New York City to play the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII on 2nd February.
