Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 26-year-old added the world crown to her Olympic, World Cup and European golds after another record-breaking performance on Saturday.
Having smashed the track record on Friday, Yarnold lowered it again in the final of her four runs to clinch the victory in a combined time of three minutes, 49.95 seconds.
Second place went to Germany's Jacqueline Lolling, 0.67secs further back, with Canada's Elisabeth Vathje third (+0.79secs).
A delighted Yarnold told BBC Sport: "World champion as well as Olympic champion and European champion, it's all I ever wanted."
Yarnold claimed the European title in Austria last month to add to her Olympic success in Sochi last year and her World Cup triumph during the 2013/14 season. She took silver at this season's World Cup.
Her compatriot Laura Deas was seventh in the World Championships on Saturday, with fellow Briton Rose McGrandle ninth.
