From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Englishman was trailing by two sets to nil when he won the third leg of the third set in perfect style, hitting two 180s and a 141 checkout of treble 20, treble 19 and double 12.
The 31-year-old ran across the stage at London's Alexandra Palace in delight, before regaining his composure to win the third and fourth sets to level the match at 2-2. However it was not enough as Van der Voort took the next two sets to complete a 4-2 win.
Winstanley missed the chance to force a deciding set as he somehow hit 20 instead of single one and Van der Voort won with a double eight .
The nine-dart finish will earn Winstanley a £15,000 bonus if no other player repeats the feat.
