The Devonshire rider extended his overall lead to 18 seconds going into today's final stage as he led a chasing group home in eighth place yesterday. Pablo Urtasun won stage seven in a sprint finish in Dart-mouth. The Basque rider pipped Marc de Maar, the winner of stage five, with Urtasun's team-mate Samuel Sanchez coming in fourth.
Leigh Howard began the day as Tiernan-Locke's closest challenger and took three seconds out of him in the first intermediate sprint, but by the finish it was Nathan Haas who had moved into second place overall after coming in sixth.
The Australian Howard dropped down to fourth behind Damiano Caruso, a full 62 seconds off the lead as the teams head to Reigate for today's final stage, which finishes in Guildford.
