Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Storm have had to postpone five matches after being locked out of the MEN Arena over unpaid rent, while several players departed after wages were not paid. The team need to raise £150,000 to stay in business, with £100,000 collected so far. However, Storey warned: "It would take two weeks to form a new company and I don't know if we have that much time."
The Superleague leaders Sheffield Steelers lost their unbeaten record on Sunday as they went down 3-2 at London Knights. London established a 3-0 lead through Rich Bronilla (powerplay), Ian McIntyre and Vezio Sacratini, but the Steelers hit back through Rhett Gordon and Willman (powerplay).
Nottingham Panthers beat Scottish Eagles 7-3 at the National Ice Centre. Xavier Majic (powerplay) cancelled out Lee Jinman's early marker for Panthers, but Jason Clarke, Marc Hussey, John Purves and Jinman put the hosts in control. Jeff Johnstone and Jonni Vauhkonen replied, but Purves and Briane Thompson gave Panthers the win.
