With title rivals Belfast facing bottom-of-the-table Bracknell, Steelers went into the final game of the regular season at Nottingham Panthers desperately needing a victory.
While Belfast recorded a 4–1 victory, Steelers needed two goals in the last three minutes to see off Panthers 3-1 and become the first team in the ISL era to win the title twice. It was the eighth piece of silverware Blaisdell has won in four seasons with the Steelers.
"It was a very sweet way to do it," beamed Blaisdell. "To win it in Nottingham was something special."
