From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Great Britain suffered their worst defeat at the hands of South Korea when they lost 5-1 to the Asian champions in the final of the Super Cup in Hong Kong yesterday.

However, there was no despondency from the coach, Jason Lee, who recently replaced the dismissed Mike Hamilton. "They were better and fitter and where we need to be. The attitude of the guys and where they have set their sights is in the right area," he said.

Britain opened the scoring in the 13th minute when the striker Dave Mathews took advantage of a loose ball. The Koreans swept back on the attack and equalised two minutes before the interval, Lee Kye Seong scoring the first of his three goals. Three further Korean goals inside the first 10 minutes of the second half put the game beyond Britain who now head for New Zealand for a five-match Test series.

Japan scored a golden goal to take the bronze medal as they secured a 3-2 win against the host nation.

* The women's Premier leaders, Chelmsford, lost 3-1 to Hightown on Saturday and were yesterday knocked out of the EH Cup by the First Division leaders, Harleston.
