Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Simon Ramsden, with five goals in Cannock's 7-0 win over St Albans, ensured the Staffordshire club moved to the top of the First Division on goal difference from Loughborough Students, who had a 4-2 victory at home to Canterbury.

Reading, with an 8-0 thrashing of Teddington, Richard Mantell and Jonty Clarke each scoring twice, are equal on points with the leaders, the three clubs having won all their games.

Surbiton lost ground to the leaders as Guildford's Ian Jennings scored in the last second for a 3-3 draw. After leading 3-1 at the interval Surbiton lost their way and allowed Guildford to take the initiative. Danny Hall scored two goals for Guildford.

Canterbury went to the top of the Women's First Division with a 5-3 win over defending champions Bowdon Hightown who had a bleak weekend, losing 6-1 to Chelmsford yesterday.

Olton and West Warwick lost points when they were beaten 2-1 by Slough, who moved into second place with goals from Louise Bevan and Alex Scott.
