Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Leicester's gallant attempt to become only the third English club to take european gold in the Women's European Cup-Winners' Cup final in Ourense failed when they were beaten 3-0 by Rotterdam.

Glasgow Western, with a 1-0 win over host side Ourense, took the bronze medal, and English hopes now rest with Reading in the men's competition here. Reading's progress to today's final against host club Oranje Zwart followed their 3-1 win against Rheydter SV05, the German Cup holders.

Ken Robinson, Mark Pearn and Andy Todd gave Reading a 3-0 lead at half-time, goalkeeper Simon Mason weighing in by crucially keeping out a German penalty corner before the interval.

Although Rheydter did manage to pull a goal back in the second half, their discipline let them down late on, and Reading held on to seal a comfortable victory.
