Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

East Grinstead opened their new £1.5mfacility in style yesterday when a Great Britain team featuring nine of the 1988 Olympic Gold medal side came from behind to beat Bataverians, based on the Dutch 1992 Barcelona Olympic squad, 5-4. In an exhibition match of precision hockey, Imran Sherwani and Don Williams each scored twice after an opening goal from Grinstead's chairman, Richard Leman.
Slough consolidated their position at the top of the Women's Premier with a 4-1 win at Trojans on Saturday and then moved into the semi-final draw of the EH Cup yesterday with a 3-2 win at Ipswich. Jane Smith scored all three goals. Canterbury beat Olton and West Warwick 1-0 and Trojans knocked out Hightown by the same score. Doncaster, 2-0 winners at home to Liverpool Quilter, complete the draw.
In the men's Premier, high-flying Cannock beat Hampstead 12-2. Reading, 6-4 winners against Doncaster, stay in second place.
