Cannock go into the mid-winter break in the National League Premier Division with a two-point advantage over Reading as a result of their 3-2 win at Guildford where Andy Brogdon scored the winner four minutes from time.

Guildford led through Danny Hall before Ben Sharpe and Martin Jones put the Staffordshire side ahead, only for Hall to equalise.

Reading romped to their biggest win of the season, beating St Albans 7-1. Although Richard Mantell struck twice from two early penalty corners James Steadman pulled one back for St Albans who trailed only 2-1 at half-time.

Doncaster's 3-0 victory over Hampstead, their first of the season, moved them two places off the bottom of the table. Colin Edwards scored twice in the last 10 minutes.

Old Loughtonians remain unbeaten at the top of the First Division, winning 3-1 at Barford Tigers. Second-placed Beeston beat Chelmsford 7-3 with Stephen Wood scoring three.

In the Second Division leaders Bowdon were held to a 0-0 draw by Hounslow and Ealing. Second-placed Nottingham moved to within two points of the top with a 6-2 victory over Oxford Hawks.

In the fourth round of the Women's Cup Tina Cullen scored five goals in Hightown's 12-0 demolition of Cambridge City. Kate Draper hit four in Worcester Norton's 5-1 win over Exeter.

In the only meeting of two Premier Division sides Nadine Devereux scored the only goal to give Trojans, without a win in the league, victory over Sutton.
