Fulton brace fires Surbiton
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Surbiton never really looked back after Karl Stagno gave them a fifth-minute lead which they took into the interval.
Two penalty corner goals from Fulton in the 39th and 48th minutes confirmed their superiority, with Stuart Head claiming a fourth. Consolation goals came from Roly Ward and Andy Whalley for Guildford.
Reading, starting with their four internationals, who returned yesterday from England's trip to South Africa, on the bench, went behind to a Nicky Thompson penalty stroke away to Old Loughtonians and only the arrival of Mark Pearn got them moving. Two penalty corner conversions by Tom Bertram just before the interval set up a 2-1 lead. Jon Wyatt, at another penalty corner, put them further ahead before Thompson claimed his second.
Teddington dropped their first points of the season in a 1-1 draw at home to Southgate, while Canterbury collected their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Cannock.
