The show's promoter, Frank Warren, was forced yesterday morning to move back the show's initial date of 16 April because of complications arising from a previously arranged international fixture involving Kindelan. Yesterday, after a two-hour delay of the scheduled announcement, Warren and senior Amateur Boxing Association officials had reached an agreement to the benefit of all parties.
Deflecting talk of an imminent professional deal, Khan said: "I want a tough fight and Kindelan will give me that. There is no point me going in and boxing someone who I know I am going to beat. I want a big fight and one which I can learn a lot from.
"I have watched the Olympic final over and over and I don't think there was eight points in it. I've seen everything he does well and everything he does badly. But more than anything I've seen where I can improve and I am confident of winning."
Kindelan is part of the Cuban squad due to arrive in England on Wednesday, and will box Birmingham's newly crowned ABA lightweight champion Frankie Gavin in Liverpool on 8 April and Ireland's David Joyce in Dublin one week later.
