Boxing: Calzaghe decides to throw in the towel after 'two fights, tops'
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Calzaghe, who turns 35 in March, unified the three world titles in the super-middleweight division when he beat Mikkel Kessler of Denmark last month, taking his record to 44-0.
"I have got two fights left tops," he said yesterday. "I might even have one more and then decide to pack it all in and then get on with the rest of my life. Who knows? There are plenty of other things I want to do. I don't want to fight on for money. That's not the right motivation."
After beating Kessler, Calzaghe said he would like to step up a division and challenge Bernard Hopkins at light-heavyweight. Although no deal has yet been finalised, Calzaghe has all the motivation he needs, after Hopkins said, "I would never let a white boy beat me. You can print that."
Calzaghe added: "I need to have a goal, like Hopkins. It has to be something big to motivate me. Very few fighters go out as unbeaten champs. Rocky Marciano did and that's how I want to go out."
