Beau and Business medium for gold rush
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Beau and See More Business were yesterday the focus of plunges in the betting for next March's Cheltenham Gold Cup after being "put up" by Isiris, a tipping line.
The Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained seven-year-old, winner of the Whitbread Gold Cup last term, was third to Foxchapel King in the Intervet Trophy on his seasonal debut at Cheltenham on Saturday.
Beau was 20-1 chance for the Gold Cup yesterday morning, but a Ladbrokes spokesman said: "Punters got stuck into Beau and he was soon cut to 12-1, but that was still too big and more money was laid forcing the price down to 10-1."
William Hill and the Tote also felt the brunt of the gamble and William Hill cut Beau from 14-1 to 7-1 while they also had money for See More Business, who is now 7-2 from 7-1.
See More Business, the 1999 Gold Cup, is 6-1 from 8-1 with Ladbrokes while the Tote make See More Business 11-2 from 7-1 and have cut Beau from 20-1 to 11-1. A Hills spokesman said: "They go mad when a tipping line puts up a horse and that is what has happened here."
Coral too saw plenty of cash for both horses, cutting Beau's odds from 20-1 to 8-1 and See More Business from 7-1 to 9-2. Coral's Simon Clare said: "This was a double whammy of a gamble and we have laid both horses to lose significant sums. The money kept coming for both horses even after the odds had tumbled and we are still seeing bets on both Beau at 8-1 and See More Business at 9-2."
