From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Peers, the 39-year-old former England international, is unused to failure after leading Chester Jets to six titles and he has acted quickly with Towers, where he is the seventh coach in the last seven seasons.
Peers made room on his roster for Rod Brown by showing Brown's fellow-American Maurice Newby the door, less than a week after saying "his experience would be a great asset". Spencer Dunkley, a 34-year-old Englishman was also removed from the roster after two games as Towers neatly sidestepped looming controversy over signing Brown.
Brown signed for Chester in the summer but 48 hours before their opening game - against Towers - announced he was quitting amid speculation Peers wanted him. The Jets threatened to take their complaint to the BBL but agreed to release Brown after settling for compensation.
Like Newby and Dunkley, Brown arrives with a warm welcome from Peers: "Rod is a great ball-handler and passer who is also capable of scoring." Brown will hope he gets more than two games.
The Jets have replaced him with Ryan Huntley, who makes his debut at home tomorrow against Leicester Riders. Sean McCaw has replaced Derrick Crayton for the Riders, but not in time for tonight's game against Sheffield Sharks.
