Your support makes all the difference.Just 24 hours after beating the British Basketball League leaders Guildford Heat to share top place in the table, Sheffield Sharks crashed to a 70-65 defeat at Worcester Wolves on Saturday night to hand the championship initiative back to the Surrey franchise.
Sheffield drew level with Guildford by beating them 71-62 on Friday and seemed poised to take top spot when they led 65-63 at Worcester. But a Tom Perkes three-pointer sparked a 7-0 run as Wolves secured only their third BBL win this season.
Wolves have struggled since stepping up to the BBL this season, but they took an early 17-6 lead against Sheffield, who trailed by one at the half and by 56-53 after three quarters. Eddie Cage, 22 points, and Blake Shelton, 16, edged the Sharks 65-63 ahead before Perkes' three-pointer.
Despite their defeat on Friday, Guildford hold the edge having played three games fewer than Sheffield, whose second place is under threat from Plymouth Raiders and Newcastle Eagles, 89-68 winners over London United on Friday.
