Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

But Flournoy admitted punching Harker in an incident which was videoed and witnessed by scores of fans. England Basketball's disciplinary panel may decide his appeal is frivolous and could increase the ban.
Flournoy was ejected for punching Harker, who was then thrown out for swearing at officials. Harker later made a statement to Solihull police over incidents he alleges happened in the locker-room corridor, but it is believed the Newcastle player has not had any further contact with the police.
Flournoyhopes to have signed Olu Babalola in time to face the Rocks after the Londoner was released by Italian club Roseto. Harker's one-game ban keeps him out of tomorrow's trip to Guildford, who have won four of their last five games and meet Leicester Riders in the Trophy next week.
The Bullets' are on a run of nine defeats in 10 games and, after finishing bottom of the BBL for the past two seasons, they are now one place off the foot of the table.
