Your support makes all the difference.Sheffield Sharks eased past the British Basketball League's bottom club, promoted Worcester Wolves, with a 99-70 win at the English Institute for Sport last night and climbed to joint second in the table.
The Sharks extended the Wolves' losing streak to six, and joined Guildford Heat and London United on four wins, one behind Milton Keynes Lions.
With Wolves' shooting guard Andy Harper already out injured, their new American Solomon Sheard failed to obtain a work permit in time for the game. But the Englishman Ben Potts scored 20 points to lead Wolves', whose second-quarter fightback was stamped out by Sharks' Jeff Bonds and Todd Cauthorn. Bonds hit seven and Cauthorn six in a 16-3 run for a 51-51 half-time lead.
Milton Keynes and London met in a BBL Trophy group game at Bletchley, where the Lions threw down a marker for the championship with an 83-78 win, led by 24 points from Terrell Brown who scored eight in an 11-0 run for a match-winning 75-65 lead.
Newcastle Eagles begin their defence of the BBL Cup with a difficult first-round tie at home to Milton Keynes tomorrow.
