From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Bupa London 10,000 road race will be the 37-year-old Bedfordshire woman's first race since she limped home fourth in the New York City Marathon in November 2009 – and since the birth of her second child, Raphael, in September last year.
She had mooted the prospect of contesting the 10,000m on the track at the World Championships as a stepping stone to an autumn marathon but has had a re-think after the bout of bronchitis that forced her to delay her return to action.
"The priority is the marathon, which will most likely be in September or October, and qualifying for the Olympics," Radcliffe said. "Travelling so far shortly before a marathon to race 10,000m on the track doesn't really fit in very well.
"I had a bad bronchitis attack which really flared up my asthma but it's back under control now.
"I'm looking forward to getting back to racing and building back up to being in top shape for a marathon in the autumn and especially for next year in London."
