Your support makes all the difference.After an unsettled period that included a controversial flirtation with the disgraced coach Charlie Francis, Marion Jones and Tim Montgomery, the world's fastest couple, have named Dan Pfaff as their new coach.
The pair parted from Trevor Graham early this year and then had a short relationship with Francis, who was tainted by association with steroid use by the Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson in the 1980s.
Pfaff, 49, is the former coach of Donovan Bailey, another Canadian sprinter, who won the 1996 Olympic 100m title and held the world record. He worled on field events during his seven years working at the University of Texas, suggesting Jones, dominant at 100 and 200m in recent years, will pay more attention to the long jump.
Pfaff will begin working immediately with Montgomery, who broke the 100m world record last year but has struggled at times this season. But he will wait until September to start working with Jones, who has taken this season off to have a baby. Tim Montgomery Jnr was born on 28 June.
Jones and Montgomery chose Pfaff because of "his expertise as a technician in the sprints as well as the long jump."
