British athletes are to benefit from the construction of a second track at their pre-Olympic Games training base in Paphos, Cyprus.

The deal for a second track to be laid - in only six weeks - at Coral Beach near Paphos, has been brokered by the UK Athletics performance director, Max Jones, and his support team.

The European triple jump champion, Ashia Hansen, will take part in the Norwich Union Olympic Trials & AAAs in July at Manchester. The event doubles as the selection meeting for the Olympic team. The top two in each event will travel to Athens, if they reach the qualifying standard.

* Kelli White, the 100- and 200-metre world champion, has accepted a two-year suspension for violation of doping rules. The American, 27, accepted the minimum possible ban for her first offence for using performance-enhancing substances and doping methods.
