From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Richie Richardson should be replaced as the West Indies captain by Courtney Walsh, according to the former Test player, Joel Garner.

Garner believes that the fast bowler must take over if the West Indies are to pose a challenge in next year's World Cup in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

"If he [Richardson] does not perform with the bat on the current tour, he should not go to the World Cup," Garner said.

The West Indies slumped to their fifth successive limited-overs defeat on tour in Australia when, with their top order failing again, they lost by four wickets to Queensland on Tuesday. Replying to the West Indies' 50-over score of 206 for 8, Queensland totalled 207 for 6 with 17 balls to spare. Stuart Law, overlooked for Test duty, scored 70 from 84 balls.
