France recall Cabannes
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.France have made two changes for their opening Five Nations match against the defending champions, Wales, at the Parc des Princes on 21 January.
The flanker Laurent Cabannes and outside-half Christophe Deylaud come in for Arnaud Costes and Yann Delaigue, who both played in the 28-9 victory over Canada at Besancon in December. Delaigue will be on the replacements' bench, but Costes disappears fromthe squad altogether.
Cabannes is recalled despite a poor season so far at club level, but the selectors have remembered that both Cabannes and Deylaud played important roles in France's historic series win over two Tests in New Zealand last year.
Aubin Huber, the former international scrum-half, returns after a year's absence through injury to captain the France B side which will meet their Scottish counterparts in Glasgow on 20 January. France have also included an impressive front row of Philippe Gallard, Frabrice Landreau and the veteran, Louis Armary.
