Gareth Southgate has announced his starting XI to face Sweden in today’s World Cup quarter-final with Sweden.

The England manager has selected an unchanged team from the penalty shootout win over Colombia, with Dele Alli fit to continue in midfield.

Alli has already missed game time in Russia with a left thigh problem, which appeared to re-occur in the last-16 win over Colombia.

But the Tottenham man lined up alongside Jesse Lingard and Jordan Henderson for the third time in Russia, while Raheem Sterling again held off the challenge of Marcus Rashford.

Jamie Vardy has also passed a late fitness test to take up his place on the bench.

Vardy had been a major doubt after suffering a groin strain in the last 16 match, but was again fit to be named among the substitutes for the encounter in Samara.Sweden right back Mikael Lustig is banned after picking up a second yellow card and has been replaced by Emil Krafth, while midfielder Sebastian Larsson returns from suspension and comes into the side for Gustav Svensson.

Henderson, Jesse Lingard, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Walker are all one booking away from missing a potential semi-final, while Albin Ekdal and Viktor Claesson are in the same boat for Sweden.

Sweden: Olsen, Krafth, Lindelof, Granqvist, Augustinsson, Claesson, Larsson, Ekdal, Forsberg, Berg, Toivonen. Subs: Johnsson, Olsson, Guidetti, Svensson, Helander, Hiljemark, Jansson, Rohden, Durmaz, Thelin, Nordfeldt.

England: Pickford, Walker, Stones, Maguire, Trippier, Alli, Henderson, Lingard, Young, Sterling, Kane. Subs: Butland, Rose, Dier, Vardy, Welbeck, Cahill, Jones, Delph, Rashford, Loftus-Cheek, Alexander-Arnold, Pope.

Referee: Bjorn Kuipers (Holland)
