Manchester United defender Eric Bailly issued a foul-mouthed response to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Instagram post announcing his immediate contract termination, with the striker set to complete an imminent move to the MLS with LA Galaxy.

Ibrahimovic posted an image on Instagram of himself apparently mocked up as Jesus arm-wrestling with the devil, with the caption: “Great things also come to an end and it is time to move on after two fantastic seasons with Manchester United.

“Thank you to the club, the fans, the team, the coach, the staff and everybody who shared with me this part of my history #foreverred.”

The image received more than 2m likes and hundreds of comments, but there were two in particular that attracted attention given that they came from his now former teammate in Bailly.

The first comment simply read “f*** offfffff”, before a second one said “you f*** off everyday”.

However, the second post included an emoji that suggested it was a private joke between the two, given that there is no bad blood known between the pair.

United confirmed that Ibrahimovic’s contract had been terminated on Thursday, freeing him up to complete a free transfer to LA Galaxy which will be announced by Friday.

"Manchester United confirms that it has agreed to the termination of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract with immediate effect,” the club confirmed.

“Everyone at the club would like to thank Zlatan for his contribution to the team since his arrival and wishes him well for the future."
