West Ham have agreed the signing of Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury on an initial season-long loan, Press Association Sport understands.

The Hammers have moved for Lansbury, 20, after Scott Parker completed his protracted transfer to Tottenham earlier this afternoon.

England Under-21 international Lansbury wants regular first-team football having failed to make the breakthrough with Arsenal.

He only came on as a late substitute during Sunday's 8-2 defeat by Manchester United despite an injury to Jack Wilshere, Alex Song's suspension and the departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.

Debutant Francis Coquelin was preferred in the centre of midfield at Old Trafford by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

Lansbury has been linked with moves to QPR, Wolves, Blackburn and Norwich, the team he helped secure promotion to the top flight while on loan last season.

However, he is poised to drop back down to the npower Championship to become Sam Allardyce's 10th signing of the summer.

Lansbury will be joined in the Hammers' midfield by Papa Bouba Diop, who signed a one-year contract yesterday.

Allardyce is also close to signing number 11 with Tottenham's out-of-favour winger David Bentley poised to join on loan for the season.

Bentley, 27, spent the latter part of last season on loan at Birmingham.
