Werder Bremen manager Thomas Schaff remains hopeful of securing the permanent signing of Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro. "I hope we get Pizarro," Schaaf said of the Peruvian international, who scored 28 goals on loan at Bremen last season. "We are considering where we can strengthen our team."

"I've had no contact with Arsenal and I've spoken to Dortmund," he said. "They have told me that they have had no contact with Arsenal whatsoever."
