Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Fulham have secured the services of captain Danny Murphy for a further year after the captain signed a contract extension until 2011. Birmingham and Stoke have shown interest in the former Tottenham and Liverpool player this summer but he has now shown his intent to stay at Fulham, where he has scored eight goals in 53 appearances since joining in August 2007. Fulham have also confirmed the season-long loan signing of West Brom midfielder Jonathan Greening.

Hammers miss out
West Ham United manager Gianfranco Zola may miss out on Livorno striker and reported transfer target Alessandro Diamanti after the Italian side said they were yet to receive "any satisfactory offers" for the 26-year-old forward. The club last week suggested West Ham were interested in Diamanti, who has said: "There has been this important offer made that could change my life and make me take a leap in quality."
