From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. There has been interest in the MK Dons midfielder throughout the window with the 18-year-old considered a great prospect. Spurs will have to spend around £5m to secure his signature and may immediately loan him back to the League One side.
Juan Cuadrado's move to Chelsea could go to the wire. A fee has been agreed between the Blues and Fiorentina but a couple of factors threaten to spoil the deal. Andre Schurrle is set to join Wolfsburg but Chelsea need to secure that fee before they can sign off on the Cuadrado deal. There are also reports that Mohamed Salah, who will go to Fiorentina as part of the deal for the Colombian winger, is having work permit issues.
Despite Louis van Gaal insisting there will be no more arrivals at Manchester United this month they've been linked with late moves for Mats Hummels and Kevin De Bruyne by the Daily Express. Hummels has been linked with the Red Devils (and a host of other clubs) throughout the month but could finally leave Borussia Dortmund today. Bruyne, the former Chelsea player, has been impressing at Wolfsburg this term and even scored a double in the recent 4-1 league win over the previously undefeated Bayern Munich.
According to the Manchester Evening News there could still be an exit from Old Trafford though with Adnan Januzaj linked with a loan move. PSG have been the club most consistently cited as his destination but the local paper are reporting that the 19-year-old could join Everton. Other reports state Van Gaal wants to see the Belgium international remain and fight for his place.
Micah Richards is understood to be likely to leave Manchester City today. Whilst he's been linked with Chelsea and Liverpool, according to the Daily Star he will snub them and move to Serie A with Inter Milan where he will be reunited with former City manager Roberto Mancini.
Emmanuel Adebayor could be one of the big movers today. Like at all his previous clubs, the Togo striker has fallen out of favour at his current home of White Hart Lane and could be set to depart Tottenham. According to the Daily Mirror among those keen to offer him a way out is Stoke City manager Mark Hughes who is looking for cover following a serious injury to Bojan Krkic. QPR have also been linked.
Ronald Koeman has confirmed that he hopes to see "at least one player" join Southampton before the end of the day. Feyenoord's Tonny Vilhena and Filip Djuricic of Benfica are on his radar and the desire to add to his squad will have only increased having seen their top-four hopes were hit by a home defeat to Swansea.
