Belgian star Defour in demand
Steven Defour's agent has claimed the Standard Liège midfielder would not turn down the chance to join Liverpool if they came in for him. His agent Paul Stefani added: "Steven's name has been mentioned not only at Real Madrid, but also at Liverpool – they are looking at him, too."
Bent expected to sign today
Darren Bent's move to Sunderland is set to go through today after the Tottenham striker passed a medical yesterday. The 25-year-old is set to become Sunderland's record signing, for a reported £12m, but a delay over the paperwork thwarted hopes he would be able to play in a friendly against Peterborough last night. Meanwhile, the Sunderland manager, Steve Bruce, has not given up on signing midfielder Lee Cattermole from his former club Wigan. Bruce is ready to come back and lodge a third bid for Cattermole, despite being warned off by Wigan.
