Robert Lewandowski has for the past few years been one of the most sought after strikers in Europe.

When he scored four goals against Real Madrid in the Champions League, speculation went into overdrive.

The Poland international was linked with just about every top club in Europe from Manchester United to Real Madrid.

In the end, the Borussia Dortmund striker opted to join Bayern Munich (as it always seemed likely he would), who he will join at the end of the current season.

However, Lewandowski has revealed that Arsenal goalkeeper and Poland team-mate Wojciech Szczesny tried to lure him to Arsenal.

"I can confirm that Wojciech Szczesny tried to convince me to join Arsenal," Lewandowski told Polish tabloid Fakt.

"We had several talks about this. It was him who did most of the talking, how the club looks inside, what Arsene Wenger thinks of me."

Unfortunately for Arsenal, Lewandowski did more talking with Bayern.
