The former Crystal Palace man, signed by Sir Alex Ferguson for £15m+ last January, has struggled to break into the side under David Moyes and will hope to make an impression at the Cardiff City Stadium.
According to the Metro, Zaha will use the move to impress Roy Hodgson and earn a place in his squad for the World Cup in Brazil.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Cardiff's manager, is keen to add to his attacking ranks and appears to have utilised his contacts at Old Trafford to make the move happen.
Meanwhile United are on the verge of signing Juan Mata from Premier League rivals after days of rumours concerning the Spaniard's availability.
The fee, believed to be just shy of £40m, is the most extravagant in the club's history and eclipses the £30.75m spent on Dimitar Berbatov in 2008.
The 25-year-old Spaniard will complete a medical today before signing a contact which will also see his wages jump from £70,000-a-week to £150,000.
