West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has finally signed some defensive cover in the form of Napoli right-back Pablo Armero after striving to do so for much of the last month.

The Hammers had lost defender Joey O'Brien with a dislocated shoulder earlier this week, which is likely to rule him out until the end of the current Premier League season.

With the Hammers flailing in the lower sanctums of the division, Sam Allardyce was forced into entering the market.

The East London club wasted little time in agreeing a deal for Colombian Armero after making their interest known at the beginning of the week.

Napoli announced on social media that the transfer had gone through before Sky Sports News broke the news this afternoon.

The former Udinese man joins Roger Johnson in the new-look West Ham back-line.
