Chelsea’s unhappy midfielder Juan Mata could be offered a way out of the club with reports emerging that Paris Saintt Germain are prepared to make another bid for the Spaniard this month.

Mata has furious with Jose Mourinho’s decision to substitute him in the 53rd minute during the 3-0 victory over Southampton on New Year’s Day, displaying his frustration at becoming a fringe squad member since the Portuguese’s return to Stamford Bridge.

Having been afforded just 11 league starts this season, the Evening Standard are reporting that the French league champions are ready to test the water in an effort to bring Mata to Paris.

His chances of being selected for Spain’s World Cup squad this summer is under threat and PSG, who failed with a late attempt to buy him in August, are planning a second move.

Mourinho insists that he doesn’t want to sell Mata, however admitted that his and the club’s ‘door’ is open to a transfer if the 25-year-old demands it.

Chelsea value Mata, who joined for £23.5m from Valencia in 2011, in excess of £30m, but that is unlikely to put PSG off.

He is also the source of interest from a number of English clubs including Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and Liverpool, but Chelsea will not want to sell to a Premier League rival.

Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are also monitoring the situation, but PSG are the favourites should Chelsea agree to a deal.
