Toni Kroos has reportedly told his Bayern Munich team-mates he is keen to leave the club and head to their Champions League quarter-final opponents Manchester United in the summer.

However, the club’s Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has dismissed the prospect of the midfielder leaving when the summer transfer window opens, and believes that the Germany international will still be playing for the defending Champions League holders in 2015.

“Toni Kroos is sure to wear Bayern Munich's shirt next year,” Rummenigge told reporters in Germany.

But David Moyes will have been buoyed by the rumours that Kroos wants to leave Bayern, given that talks between himself and the club over a contract extension have to far proven unsuccessful due to the Bundesliga champions refusing to meet the 24-year-old’s wage demands.

With Moyes set to revamp his squad in the summer after United’ shortcomings this season in the defence of their Premier League crown, Kroos believes that United will be more than willing to offer a sum closer to that of his demanding, and the Red Devils hierarchy are hopeful that Bayern would reluctantly accept a bid in excess of £20m, given that he is approaching the final year of his current deal.

Kroos, who has made 42 appearances for the German national team, is currently looking for a £90,000 increase on his £60,000-a-week salary, and although Bayern are refusing to meet his asking price, they are also digging their heels in over his departure.

United’s interest in Kroos was made clear when Moyes’ assistants Steve Round and Phil Neville reportedly met with the player’s advisor Sascha Breese at a Bayern Munich match at Borussia Monchengladbach.
