Dante's agent has denied the Bayern Munich defender has signed for Manchester United but admitted scouts from Old Trafford have been watching him.

Reports in Brazil on Tuesday afternoon suggested a deal had already been reached for the 30-year-old Brazil international. However, when asked on live TV if he had signed for David Moyes' men, Dante responded "not yet," but admitted that there is interest from the English champions.

"I'm thankful for the Manchester United interest, it will all be sorted out by the end of the month," he said.

And Dante’s agent Marcus Marin has confirmed to The Independent that he is in negotiations with Bayern Munich over a new deal but did not rule out the possibility of a switch to the Premier League.

“There is no agreement with Manchester United,” he said.

“We are currently in negotiations with Bayern over a new year and his first option is to play there. He is very happy in Germany at the moment but if nothing can be arranged in the next few weeks then of course he would have to explore his options elsewhere.”

Marin added: “Dante is at a crucial stage of his career so he needs to think about one last big contract. He has had a brilliant year and won several medals so we know how important the next few months will be. We are hoping that something can be resolved before the World Cup.”

Dante was instrumental in Bayern’s glorious 2013, when they completed a domestic double and won the Champions league and Club World Club. The former Borussia Monchengladbach defender also helped Brazil win the Confederations Cup on home soil and is expected to be a crucial part of Luiz Felipe Scolari’s squad at this year’s World Cup.

Bayern will face Arsenal in the last-16 tie of the Champions League next month and Marin admitted his client is attracted by a move to the Premier League.

“If things don’t work out with Bayern then England would definitely be somewhere he is interested in playing,” he said.

“He will be in London next month to play against Arsenal in the Champions League so that will be a good opportunity to market himself in England.”
