Manchester United are lining up Porto's Alex Sandro for a January transfer as their ongoing pursuit of Leighton Baines has continued to be frustrated.

With Patrice Evra's deal expiring at the end of the season, David Moyes is keen to bring in a new face at left back - Everton's Baines being his first choice.

However the Toffees have been reluctant to part with their England international and so reports indicate that Moyes may have switched his attentions to Porto's Brazilian defender instead.

The 22-year-old was one of a number of potential transfer targets that Moyes saw in action when he attended Atletico Madrid's Champions League game against Porto.

Alex Sandro has been at Porto since his £8m move from Santos in 2011.
