Manchester United could look to take advantage of a contract dispute to sign £6m-rated Robert Muric for as little as £300,000 in compensation.

The 17-year-old Dinamo Zagreb striker starred at the Under-17 World Cup, and he is currently the subject of a dispute over the situation of his contract, as there is uncertainty over whether he has actually signed a professional deal with his current club.

If he hasn’t, Muric would be able to leave the Croatian league leaders for free, with his next club required to pay a minimal compensation fee in the region of £300,000.

United manager David Moyes is also believed to be monitoring Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, although the Merseyside club are highly unlikely to let their former manager raid their squad again after he took Marouane Fellaini in the summer in a deal worth £27.5m.

Should they look to make a move for Muric, they can expect to face competition from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, with the Champions League runners-up also believed to be interested in the Croatian.
