From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The last few days of the transfer window are always a dramatic affair, with fans, clubs, managers and above all, the players themselves left on edge with late moves and rumours.

It is the big-name transfers that really set tongues wagging, however, and with fewer than four days of the transfer window remaining, there are still a host of major deals that might or might not go through.

The transfer world record has already been smashed with PSG’s £200m signing of Neymar, while Premier League clubs have already spent in excess of £900m on new players for the season ahead.

From the rancorous, summer-long sagas of Philippe Coutinho and Virgil van Dijk, to the more recent speculation surrounding Jonny Evans and Danny Drinkwater, we take a look at ten possible major transfers involving Premier League clubs, and their likelihood of being completed before the clock strikes midnight on 31 August.
