Tim Sherwood could be about to bring an end to Lewis Holtby's Tottenham career by letting the midfielder go this month, according to reports.

The German, who only joined the London club last January, could be on his way out of White Hart Lane as new manager Sherwood looks to make some changes.

Holtby has not featured much since the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas, managing only 63 minutes of league football under his new boss.

It is now understood that Spurs will listen to offers for the player, with former club Schalke thought to be favourites for his signature.

Holtby is on a four-and-a-half year deal at Tottenham, worth around £3.5m-a-year, an amount the north Londoners are reportedly keen to get off their books.

While the German's time at the club has been brief, they are likely to make profit on the player who they signed for only £1.5m last year.

Holtby has made 18 starts in his time at Spurs, scoring three goals.
