Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Schalke are on the verge of signing Kevin-Prince Boateng from AC Milan with the midfielder currently undergoing a medical in Gelsenkirchen.
Boateng, who previously appeared for Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga before a brief loan spell with Schalke's local rivals Borussia Dortmund, is expected to complete his return to Germany later today.
The 26-year-old, who was born in Berlin but represents Ghana despite playing for Germany at youth level, was on target twice in AC Milan's 3-0 win over PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday night, which means he will be ineligible to appear for the Royal Blues in that competition.
Schalke were yesterday drawn against Chelsea, Basle and Steaua Bucharest in the Champions League group stage.
In Italy, former Tottenham and Portsmouth midfielder Boateng made 74 appearances for Milan, scoring 10 goals, many of which were spectacular efforts.
Perhaps his most newsworthy contribution in a Milan shirt, however, occurred in January when he walked off the pitch in protest after being racially abused during a friendly against Italian fourth-tier side Pro Patria.
