The Bulgarian striker joined the Cottagers from Manchester United in 2012 and enjoyed a successful first season in which he scored 15 goals in all competitions.
However, he has struggled to replicate that form this season, scoring just once in the league this term. His demise has coincided with a slump at Fulham as a whole that has left the club in the relegation zone.
Now, the agent of the former Tottenham striker has revealed that his client is unhappy at Craven Cottage and signalled he will look to leave in January.
"I don't usually speculate as nobody knows what will happen in January but what I can tell you is he (Berbatov) is not happy at Fulham," Emil Dantchev told Press Association.
"He would like, if possible, to find another option."
There has been speculation that Berbatov could move to Barcelona, however Dantchev says the 32-year-old would prefer to remain in the Premier League.
"I cannot comment (on whether there has been any approach) but the priority is to find a solution to stay in England," he said.
Fulham take on Berbatov's former club Spurs tonight with Rene Meulensteen overseeing his first match in charge following the dismissal of Martin Jol.
It is unclear if Berbatov, whose current contract will expire next summer, will play a part after missing the weekend defeat to West Ham through illness.
