Your support makes all the difference.Lukas Fabianski and Bacary Sagna, who are both out of contract in the summer, look destined to leave Arsenal at the end of the season.
The Polish goalkeeper Fabianski, who has spent the majority of his seven years at the Emirate as understudy, has confirmed that he has refused a contract extension, while Gunners manager Arsene Wenger admitted after the 5-1 thrashing at Liverpool that Sagna could take a longer deal elsewhere, as the club will only offer him a one-year deal because he is over 30.
Fabianski has made only four appearances for Arsenal this season and has spoken of his desire to leave to become No 1 for both club and country. He is currently behind Wojciech Szczesny in both.
"I want to be number one in the club and in the Polish national team," the 28-year-old is quoted as saying in the Daily Star.
"I have learned a lot at London during very positive and challenging periods.
"With biggest respect to this great club, I didn't accept the extension offer as I am looking forward to a new challenge in England or abroad."
Per Mertesacker, Tomas Rosicky and Wenger himself are reportedly close to signing new deals, but the club are someway out with agreeing an extension for Sagna, who has been linked with a lucrative move to Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco, who would also offer the French right-back a longer deal.
"He wants to keep his options open, because he is at the end of a contract. It is an important contract for him. He is 31 years old. I can understand," Wenger revealed.
"Because he is a defender we are ready to give him more than one year.
"I’m not alright with that [Sagna keeping his options open] because I would like him to sign just now but I have to accept it. It is his freedom - the decision belongs to him."
Wenger has a policy of not offering players over 30 a contract longer than a year, with Dennis Bergkamp signing one-year rolling deals as he neared the end of his career, and Robert Pires memorably left the club to join Villarreal, who gave him a lengthier contract, in 2006.
