newcastle united Charles N'Zogbia's colourful Newcastle career has finally come to an end after his swap deal with Wigan's Ryan Taylor was completed yesterday. The 22-year-old Frenchman and his English counterpart, 24, have switched clubs, with the Magpies – in addition – receiving an undisclosed cash sum, understood to be in excess of £6m.

N'Zogbia's departure comes days after he vowed never to play for the club again in protest at manager Joe Kinnear mispronouncing his surname as "Insomnia" in a television interview.

Stoke City have signed Wigan striker Henri Camara on loan until the end of the season. The Senegal international has fallen down the pecking order at the JJB Stadium and even the departure of Emile Heskey to Aston Villa did not improve his chances as manager Bruce brought in Colombian Hugo Rodallega.

Basinas 'brings experience'

Portsmouth have strengthened their midfield with the signing of the Greek veteran Angelos Basinas from AEK Athens. The 33-year-old, a member of Greece's victorious Euro 2004 side, has agreed a deal which will keep him at Fratton Park until the end of next season.

Portsmouth's executive chairman, Peter Storrie, believes Tony Adams' struggling team will benefit from the arrival of Basinas. Storrie said: "We've brought in someone of immense experience, the current captain of Greece who is just three games away from winning his 100th cap for his country.

"He's exactly what we need in the situation that we're in. He's a player that Tony was eager to bring to Pompey. He desperately wanted to come here, and we have an option to sign him for a further year on top of the 18 months."

Portsmouth's 19-year-old Trinidad & Tobago defensive midfielder Khaleem Hyland has signed on a six-month loan for Belgian club Zulte Waregem.

Cottagers sign Inter's Dacourt

Fulham have signed the former France midfielder Olivier Dacourt, 34, on loan from Internazionale until the end of the season. Dacourt, who is familiar with English football after spells at Everton and Leeds, has been out of favour at San Siro since the arrival of Jose Mourinho. That led to speculation about a third stint in the Premier League, and Roy Hodgson, a former Inter manager, has moved quickly to tie up a short-term deal. Fulham have also agreed to keep Coventry winger Julian Gray until the end of the season.

Gow makes loan switch from Gers

Norwich City have signed Rangers forward Alan Gow on loan until the end of the season. The 26-year-old was linked with a move to Carrow Road last summer before joining division rivals Blackpool on loan. He then saw a move to Wolves scrapped when he failed a medical. Norwich are now waiting for international clearance for Gow – and fellow loan signing Celtic's Chris Killen – to face Wolves tonight. Manager Bryan Gunn said: "I'm delighted to secure Alan on loan ... as there were a lot of other clubs looking to sign him."

Mulumbu 'one for future'

West Bromwich Albion have signed defensive midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu on loan from Paris St-Germain until the end of the season with a view to a permanent deal.

The 22-year-old, who was born in Kinshasa and has been capped seven times by the Democratic Republic of Congo, becomes the Baggies' third signing of the transfer window after Jay Simpson and Marc-Antoine Fortune, who have also joined on loan.

Mulumbu signed his first professional contract with PSG in 2006 and went on to make 68 appearances for the Ligue 1 club, scoring once. Mulumbu spent last season on loan at Ligue 2 outfit Amiens, for whom he played 23 matches. Baggies' manager, Tony Mowbray, appears to consider him one for the future, describing him as a "young player with potential... who won't instantly impact on our first team." Mulumbu is not eligible for the FA Cup replay against Burnley but could make his debut against Newcastle on Saturday.
