Sky Sports News reporter Michael Bridge was giving a live update on Crystal Palace's transfer business outside the club's Beckenham training ground on a rainy morning in south London and could be in some rough treatment from the players for the rest of the day.
Whilst in shot, Bridge was soaked by Patrick Van Aanholt's black Range Rover and shouted, "oh my God, I've just been splashed! That's live TV for you."
The left-back took to Twitter to apologise to the reporter for drenching his trousers, and said he would tell the other players about the large puddle on the side of the road at the entrance to the training ground.
"This I just splashed one of your reporters @SkySportsNews I'll warn the boys of the puddle as they enter training. sooooorrryyyy!
However, Christian Benteke said that after hearing about the water on the roads, some of the Palace players have been wagering on who can get him the most wet throughout the day.
"Watch your back @MichaelBridge_ The lads have had a decent bet on who can soak you the most when we leave the training ground!" he said on Twitter.
Bridge replied with a gif, seeming to say 'bring it on' as he continues to report on transfers throughout the day.
Earlier on deadline day The Independent reported that Palace have agreed a loan deal for Swansea's Jordan Ayew, and could include an option to sign the attacker on a permanent basis in the January window.
Wilfried Zaha will not be leaving the club today, as confirmed by Steve Parish on Wednesday night on Sky Sports by suggesting that it would be too late for a club to put together a deal tempting enough for Eagles to part with their star man.
Palace will turn their attention to outgoings later this afternoon. Pape Souare, Jonny Williams, Sullay Kaikai are some of players that could leave the club permanently or on loan.
Newcastle remain interested in Jairo Riedewald, who was reluctant to move to Swansea as part of the move to bring Ayew to Selhurst Park, but he could join another club on the continent before the European deadline on Friday 31st August.
